UK Narrow Boating Holidays

To Help You Further .....

If you have been thinking about taking a narrowboating holiday you have come to the right place. Most information can be found on our website but there is not a question we have not heard so if there is anything at all not covered please do not hesitate to contact us. Our operators have years of canal narrowboating holiday experience and we are only a phone call away. If you want to contact us out of office hours just email and we will reply just as soon as we can.

Foxton LocksYou may think that finding a holiday that everyone will enjoy is impossible but a narrowboating holiday is a perfect family choice. The kids will love a narrow boating holiday, the older ones love to help with running the boat, supervised of course, and the younger ones enjoy the sense of adventure. We welcome pets at all of our Marinas so even the dog can be part of your narrowboating holiday experience.

The rules are few and mostly common sense and consideration to all all other canal users. Don't worry the regulations will be explained to you as part of your training. You do not need a licence as all of our narrowboats are licensed by us with British Waterways.

The narrowboat contents are insured but we do have an excess on our insurance so we recommend that you take out our damage waiver. We do not cover and are not insured for your car and for your personal possessions and we advise you to check your own policies carefully before you leave home.

Your narrowboat will be very well equipped so you do not have to bring the kitchen sink. Specific items you may want to bring to help you get the most out of you narrowboating holiday are a torch, camera, binoculars, DVDs and CDs. The kids will love playing card and board games so bring a selection of theses and enjoy your evenings together. A good idea is to bring your food for the first day and maybe tea, coffee sugar and milk.

Come prepared for whatever the great British weather may throw at you. Pack warm clothes, water proofs and the suntan cream. Non-slip soft deck shoes and protective gloves (for working locks) are essential and pack them in a soft bag, not a suitcase as this will save on space.

Do I need experience ?

It's not needed!

You do not need any previous experience and many of our guests are looking forward to their first narrowboating holiday, you and your crew will be given all the training you need and our narrowboats are extremely easy to handle.

Is the boat economical ?

A narrowboating holiday can be surprisingly economical because as once as you have paid for the hire the rest of the holiday cost is entirely up to you. You can choose what you do each day and many activities can be completely FREE. You can travel anywhere on the canal system that is navigable and you choose the route that will suit your requirements. The itinerary is yours you go where you want to go and stop when you want to stop. Travel through spectacular countryside and choose whether to visit a state of the art science museum or an ancient ruined castle steeped in history and legend. Moor where you want either in a peaceful country village for a pub lunch or in a large city for the shopping and culture.
